SYNOPSIS
In the mid-1980s and in the middle of summer, Rui Carlos tells the story of a group of young boys who enjoy their free time in their neighbourhood between football matches and the games they play at a young age. Getting ready for another day of running around and having fun, Rui Carlos mends his shoes that have been destroyed by constant use. When he leaves the house, he joins his best friends, Maranau and Tomané, and is asked to borrow a valuable football from their neighbour, Dona Olinda. Every day, the ball is thrown by the lady, who entrusts it to him. The rest of the friends gather by the neighbour's building, waiting for the usual team draw. On this sunny day, everything goes smoothly. The teams are chosen and the game begins, only to be interrupted by the usual neighbourhood shenanigans: a visit from Mascot the dog, a break at the fountain, and the games that are invented when you get bored. Within the group, joy and excitement go hand in hand, especially in the fierce competition of the street football tournaments, but everything is put into perspective when the precious ball gets punctured and Rui Carlos, left alone, has to confront the problem of adulthood, the responsibility for mistakes.
