DIOGO SALGADO

Diogo Salgado was born in Coimbra in 1994. After studying Fine Arts, he graduated in Film from the Lisbon Theatre and Film School, in the branch of cinematography. He holds a master’s degree in communication sciences, specializing in Cinema and Television, at the NOVA University Lisbon. During and after his studies, he worked as a cinematographer on various short films and was part of the directing teams of several short and feature films. He is a screenwriting and cinematography trainer for the Cineclube project of Rugas association, which helps young people get in touch with the art of film. In 2020, he premiered his first film THROUGH THE HAZE at the Curtas Vila do Conde Festival, winning the prize for best film in the national competition. In 2021, the short film will have its international premiere in the Official Selection of the Cannes Film Festival, competing for the Palme d'Or for Best Short Film. The film has been screened at dozens of international and national festivals and exhibitions, winning several awards such as Best Short Film at the Caminhos do Cinema Português Festival. Its career has also been marked by screenings in historic cinemas such as the Cinémathèque Française in Paris and the Anthology Film Archives in New York. His second short film, UNDER THE SHADOWS’ MOUNTAINS, will have its world premiere in 2025. In 2023, he founded BRAVADO FILMES. He is currently preparing to shoot SUBTRACTION, a documentary and experimental short film, and writing his first feature film A SEAT AT THE TABLE, while still working as a producer on other films.
